Ceramic
Handmade-feel surfaces with depth, craft, and color.
Ceramic tile is the workhorse of decorative tile — softer-bodied than porcelain, but the natural ally of artisan glazes, hand-formed shapes, and color depth that porcelain can't quite match. Lower water absorption than terracotta but with much of its character.

Common questions
Working with ceramic.
- Is ceramic durable enough for floors?
- PEI-rated glazed ceramic (PEI 3+) is fine for residential floors. For high-traffic or commercial floors, porcelain is the safer choice.
- Can ceramic tile be used in a shower?
- Yes on walls. For shower floors we recommend porcelain or a stone mosaic with appropriate slip rating.
